It is likely that various trusts, perhaps even revocable trusts, will newly attract U.S. regulatory attention coupled with significant additional compliance burdens. Matt will review the policy reasons behind enactment of the Corporate Transparency Act and provide guidance on certain compliance considerations most relevant to trust and estate practitioners. Matt will also explore the related recent amendment of ABA Model Rule 1.16 and looming further regulatory/compliance developments, potentially including CTA expansion specifically focused on trusts and passage of the federal ENABLERS Act, which appears to have broad bipartisan support.
