On behalf of The Board of STEP Orange County, I am pleased to extend this invitation to its 10th Annual Institute on Tax, Estate Planning, and the World Economy.

We can all agree that 2020 has presented unique challenges for everyone. Adjusting to working in a different way, challenges in seeing clients and conducting our business safely hasn't been easy. When the pandemic began, we recognized that we needed to adapt The Institute to a virtual event. Our primary objective is to retain the exceptional presentations, education and networking that has been carefully cultivated over previous years and ensure we add real world value for members.

We are pleased to deliver a professionally produced experience using the best accessible technology. This will not simply be a day of videos; our 17 nationally recognized presenters, keynote speakers, and sponsors even have virtual booths with drawings all designed to provide an exceptional experience, similar to a live event. The 19 hours of Continuing Education Credit will be available for review and credit for 30 days following the Institute.

In addition to the traditional presentations, STEP OC is honored to present an optional series of five Master Classes for those who desire a technical, deep dive into selected advanced planning strategies. The concept of the Master Class is to take a discreet topic whereby a practitioner can leave with a core understanding of the strategy with its benefits and pitfalls whereby the session is planned to be an interactive discussion with a smaller group. Those presenting are noted speakers who present nationally on technical topics. The presenters are committed to providing a meaningful teaching experience on topics not usually covered for a general audience. The topics include: (1) Planning Around Basis and the Vertical Slice; (2) Trusts & Taxes: Frameworks for Planning for Large Estates; (3) GRATs and Sales to IDGTs; (4) Valuation Adjustment Clauses; and (5) Private Placement Life & Annuity Products Integrated into Estate Planning Strategies. Our speakers include David Handler, Shaun McNaughton, Jere Doyle, John Prokey and Jonathan Blattmacher. We are pleased to have this lineup of professionals who will present a 90-minute session on their respective topics. This is an in depth discussion for those who want to walk away and integrate such strategies into their planning toolbox.
